Like skin elsewhere in the body, the eyelid skin can be damaged by ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Basal cell carcinomas
(BCC) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) are the most common types of skin malignancy. All eyelid malignancies should be fully
excised and sent for confirmation in the lab.
At Mona Vale Eye Centre, we are we are able to excise most eyelid cancers
and reconstruct the eyelid to make it look as normal as possible. Most procedures are performed under local anaesthetic and patients
are discharged home the same day.
